LIFENET is reaching
out to African-Americans
and Hispanics to bring
the pro-life and pro-
abstinence message to
their communities.
The black and Hispanic communities have been especially hard hit
by
the
fallout from the sexual revolution. Almost half of all African- American babies conceived will lose their lives through abortion. The numbers are also grim for Hispanics:
26% choose abortion. (Source: Henshaw, Stanley K. Unintended Pregnancy in the U.S.
Family Planning Perspectives, Vol. 30, No.1, January/February 1998).
In the Northeast region,
according to year 2000
statistics from the
Centers
for Disease Control, African
Americans are almost 25
times
more
likely to be
HIV-positive, and Hispanics
are almost 15 times as
likely
as whites
to be HIV-positive.
LIFENET believes that reaching out to minorities is essential to the
pro-life effort anywhere, but especially in New Jersey, where cultural
diversity thrives.
Working with pastors and congregations, LIFENET staff is reaching out to
communities with pro-life presentations, True Love Waits abstinence
programs, and information on post-abortion healing.
